SecurityPops is the consulting practice of Daniel Popescu, a Bay Area security engineer with more than a decade in infrastructure security.
Background
I've spent over ten years working on infrastructure security at consumer internet companies, protecting large production platforms and the systems that build and run them. That work spans cloud and infrastructure security, application security, identity and access, detection and response, and leading security programs.
I've spoken at industry conferences on infrastructure security, service mesh security, and policy management, and I'm a UC Santa Barbara computer engineering grad who still likes hardware as much as software.
I started SecurityPops to bring that experience to companies that need senior security judgment but aren't ready for a full in-house team, or that need extra depth for a specific problem.
Who I work with
Startups and mid-sized companies, usually somewhere between their first security hire and a mature security organization. Engineering-led teams that want practical guidance and are willing to do the work.
